The owner of IMHS is Dr. Victoria Wright-Adams, Ph.D., LPC. Here she describes her approach to treatment:
I am a Pennsylvania and New Jersey licensed professional counselor and psychotherapist specializing in individual, couples, group and family therapies in Warminster, Pennsylvania. I specialize and have a passion in my work with children and adolescents, however have experience working with young people from age 2 through age 99. I use a systemic, positive approach to treatment focusing on my research interests in individual and group identity, internal strength and motivation, individual abilities and structured goal setting. I use a dialectical approach providing a skillful foundation for success in treatment and in daily living.
My experience has included working with individuals who struggle with various types of addiction, mild to chronic mental health diagnoses, academic and educational issues or those who simply want to get their lives in a more controllable and manageable state. I have worked in educational, clinical and facility settings serving as clinical director/supervisor, as a psychotherapist, and as a professional academic/vocational counselor, and currently as the owner and practitioner of my private practice where I enjoy meeting the needs of broad spectrum of patients as they grow and learn how to far exceed their goals throughout the course of treatment. As a PhD with a specialization in Educational Psychology from Walden University and Rutgers University specializing in Counseling Psychology, I serve my patients in the following areas of expertise, including: reconciling feelings of grief and loss, drug and alcohol recovery, career counseling, remediating anxiety and mood disorders, as well as addressing the source of many difficulties that impede academic development in children and adolescents.
In addition to being a relationship therapist, I have presented at national conferences and to general audiences speaking on the topics of adolescent identity formation and stereotype threat. I consult frequently with schools, outreach partners in the community and supervise future clinicians to prepare for the work we love to do.
I consider myself an interactive, person-centered therapist with a therapeutic approach that provides support and practical feedback to help each of my clients effectively address personal life challenges. I integrate complementary methodologies and techniques to offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. I focus on empathy, compassion and understanding, to help each individual identify and build on strengths to attain the personal growth they are committed to gain during each and every session.
